Housed in the former Camden Town Hall Annex in London’s thriving King’s Cross neighbourhood, the 1974 Brutalist building has been meticulously restored and sets the perfect stage for The Standard’s first hotel outside America.
The Standard, London has 266 rooms in 42 unique styles ranging from Cosy Core rooms to terraced suites with outdoor bathtubs overlooking St Pancras station. Scotch Partners provided Client-side acoustic duties for this boutique US brand hotel. Scotch carried out early external and internal noise surveys and investigations to establish the baseline levels of external noise on the very busy Euston Road, and the inherent sound insulation properties of the existing building.
Working with the design team, Scotch assisted in developing solutions for external glazing and internal constructions that would meet a bespoke set of acoustic criteria developed for the Client. The team then carried out inspections, including acoustic testing of the finished building to assess the acoustic performance of key elements.
