Hobhouse Court is a part refurbishment and part new-build development that will deliver 19 residential units, 1,400sq.m office space, and 850sq.m retail, and re-provide an art gallery with vaults within the Grade 2 listed John Nash building, situated opposite The National Gallery.

Led by Architects Brisac Gonzalez, the project incorporates a façade retention, refurbishment of existing basement vaults and a new-build development over five floors. Due to the unique and complex nature of the mixed-use scheme a BREEAM Bespoke assessment is being applied to the commercial element of the site. The luxury residential units are being assessed under Code for Sustainable Homes and are targeting Level 4.

As a building with significant heritage value, the sustainability features required to target BREEAM ‘Excellent’ had to be carefully selected and sympathetically designed to ensure the historic integrity of the building wasn’t compromised. This meant working closely with the architect and M&E engineer. Measures being implemented include PV panels, efficient LED lighting design and heating/cooling system, and a high-performance glazed façade system which allows daylight whilst minimising solar gain.
